Residency Program

 

Obstetric Anesthesiology

 

During rotations in obstetric anesthesia, residents learn about maternal and fetal physiology and pathophysiology, as well as the implications of anesthesia in this group of patients. Residents learn the use of epidural and intrathecal techniques for providing analgesia for labor and anesthesia for operative delivery.

 

Temple University Hospital has a busy obstetric practice with more than 2,500 deliveries each year, many of whom are high risk. This volume and variety allow residents to become skilled in all facets of obstetric anesthesia practice. Residents participate in care for obstetric patients throughout the continuum of education.
