Sharon J. Herring, MD ’02, MPH, Assistant Professor of medicine, Public Health and OB/GYN at Temple, is the 2013 recipient of the Mid-Atlantic Society of General Internal Medicine’s Clinician Investigator Award, which recognizes outstanding junior clinician-investigators. Her research has focused on obesity treatment and prevention in women.

Jorge J. Scheirer, MD ’89, is medical director of the internal medicine faculty practice and consultant to The Reading Hospital and Medical Center (Reading, PA) for clinical information technology. His research interests include using information systems to improve healthcare quality and the impact of computer interfaces on data quality in electronic medical records.

John D. Casey, MD ’84, Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Reading Hospital, has been elected president of the hospital’s medical staff. He joined Reading Hospital’s medical staff in 1994 after completing his residency at Temple University Hospital.
