Previous Events: White Coat Dinner 2007
On October 26, 2007, following the White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2011, Dean Daly hosted a dinner at the Union League of Philadelphia for those who served as "coaters" in the event. Some of the coaters were alumni with children in the class. They, too, joined the celebration along with members of the Dean's staff and representatives of the School's Board of Visitors and the Alumni Board.
Reunion Weekend 2007 Recap This year's reunion, held on October 26 and 27, 2007 for classes ending in 2 and 7, was a wonderful success. More than 350 alumni and guests attended and many traveled great distances. The festivities began with a Friday evening welcome reception at the Westin-Philadelphia Hotel. On Saturday morning, despite the rain, alumni gathered on campus for an update by Dean Daly and a hands-on tour of the School's new clinical simulation, patient skills and obesity research and education centers. Following, alumni and medical students gathered to compare and contrast their TUSM experiences. A campus tour featuring the construction site of the new medical school building concluded the daytime events. With upscale cocktail receptions, class photographs and a big-screen slideshow featuring the graduation photos of attendees, Saturday evening's alumni banquet at the Westin Hotel was a huge success. Richard Fine, MD '62, was named Alumnus of the Year; PJ Brennan, MD '82, received the Alumni Achievement Award; and Ronald Rubin, MD '72, was named Honored Professor. The Alumni Service Award was given jointly -- and as a surprise -- to Drs. Stephen Permut and Richard Close of the Class of 1972. In addition, reunion class agents presented a check to the Dean reflecting the total of their five-year reunion fundraising efforts: $2.5 million, which supports the new medical school building, student scholarships, and other essential funds. If it was your reunion and you missed it, promise yourself and your classmates that you'll make the next!
