office of institutional advancementAbout the Alumni AssociationAll graduates of the School of Medicine (all degree programs), and all graduates of Temple's residency and fellowship programs, are automatically lifetime members of the Alumni Association. There are no forms to fill out nor dues to pay.
A 25-member Board of Directors composed mainly of Philadelphia-area alumni works in tandem with the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs to create and refine programs to help maintain ties between alumni and the School. (To see the list of Board members, click on the link at the right.)
There are approximately 12,000 living alumni and former residents of the School of Medicine practicing throughout the United States and on every habitable continent of the globe. They represent every area of primary care and every specialty and subspecialty. Most are in private practice, but thousands also work in industry and academia. There are currently 850 Temple University School of Medicine MD and PhD alumni serving on medical school faculties across the United States. Hundreds hold full professorships or chairs. Over the years, nine have been deans, including John M. Daly, MD, of the Class of 1973, Temple's own Dean.
Known for their advocacy of health and welfare, many alumni are community and civic leaders. Dozens volunteer time at free clinics and participate in medical missions to aid populations in need. Dozens also serve in volunteer leadership roles in professional associations.
Hundreds of alumni have earned national and even international recognition for their contributions to medical science via teaching, research, clinical service and professional affairs. Thousands of book chapters and hundreds of texts have been authored by alumni, and numerous alumni have also made impressive contributions to the arts.
For all these reasons and more, members of the Alumni Association of Temple University School of Medicine are in very fine company. They reflect a great deal of honor on their alma mater.
