Faculty & Staff Campaign

Frequently Asked Questions

CAMPAIGN

How is the campaign doing at this point?

The total cost of the building will be $150 million.  So far, $142 million has been raised through gifts and pledges, $8 million is still needed to reach our goal.

  • $50 million committed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • $50 million committed by the University via bond issue
  • $42 million already raised through past & current TUSM efforts
  • $8 MILLION STILL NEEDED

When will the building campaign ‘go public’?

  •  November 1, 2006

What is the goal of the Faculty/Staff Campaign?

  • 100% participation

  • $1,000,000

How will Faculty/Staff contributions be used?

  • The entire first floor of the new health science center library will be named in honor of TUSM Faculty & Staff.

TUSM’s Faculty/Staff campaign is taking place concurrently with the University’s "Together for Temple" campaign.  Is there a linkage between the two campaigns?

  • Yes. All contributions made by Faculty and Staff to the School of Medicine will also be credited toward the University’s overall Faculty/Staff campaign and vice versa. Contributions made in response to the University’s "Together for Temple" solicitations can be designated to directly support the School of Medicine.

Do gifts to Temple University Hospital count toward the School’s campaign?

  • No. Contributions made to the Hospital do not count toward the School’s campaign.  Although the School and the Hospital work hand-in-hand on many projects, fundraising efforts are distinctive to each organization.

GIVING

Is my gift used for the new medical school building or do I have the option of directing my gift to other areas?

  • While Temple University School of Medicine has many areas that rely on your financial support, the goal of this campaign is to raise money specifically for the new medical school building.

How much should I give?

  • It’s entirely up to you.  Some faculty and staff members may choose to make a multi-year leadership pledge of $25,000 or more while others may decide to make a one-time gift of $100.  Gifts of all sizes are appreciated. Participation is key to this campaign; faculty and staff support demonstrates to other potential benefactors that TUSM employees have a strong belief in the School’s mission and a real commitment to this project.
