Grants
and Awards and Contests
Thoughts and Dreams Video Contest: The goal of this contest is to
encourage educators and students to use video as a creative educational tool for
developing communication skills. Categories include high, middle, and elementary
school. The deadline for entries is March 24, 2003.
Alan Shepard Technology in Education Award: The award recognizes
outstanding contributions made by technology personnel or classroom teachers to
technology education. The award is open to educators at the K-12 school and
district level that have demonstrated exemplary use of technology either to
foster lifelong learners or make the learning process easier. The recipient of
this award will receive a state of the art Personal Digital Assistant and a
commemorative trophy with his or her name engraved on it. The application
deadline is March 31, 2003.
Ablenet 2003 TriStar Award: This award is given to programs serving
school age students from grades K through 12 to acknowledge quality LESSON PLANS
that meet the following criteria: provide opportunities for students to be
included with others, incorporate the use of assistive technology including at
least four AbleNet products, making teaching and learning fun. For information
on awards, check the website. The deadline is April 15, 2003.
3Com's Commitment to Help Bridge the Digital Divide: 3Com, in cooperation
with the United States Conference of Mayors, has been awarding cities/school
districts across the nation with grants of $100,000 worth of 3Com products and
services to incorporate new uses for information technology into their
communities. The 3Com Urban Challenge Program is meant to help cities bridge the
digital divide. Grants are awarded on a rolling basis. The application deadline
is April 21, 2003.
