Grants

The Coca-Cola Foundation devotes much of its efforts to partnerships in three
main areas: higher education, classroom teaching and learning, and global
education.
Proposals are reviewed quarterly. The next deadline for applications is December
1, 2002.
Smarter Kids Foundation PREP Grant helps teacher preparation and training
facilities purchase their first SMART Roomware products to enhance technology
integration. The PREP Grant is available only to accredited universities,
colleges, teacher-training schools, and institutions or centers involved in
preservice or inservice teacher training or education leading to an
education degree or professional teacher certification. The deadline for
applying is December 1, 2002.
ExploraVision is a competition for students in
Grades K-12.
encouraging students to combine their imaginations with the tools of science to
create and explore a vision of a future technology.
To prepare an entry, students work in groups of two, three, or four, simulating
research and development (R&D) teams, along with a team coach and an optional
mentor. The students must project into the future
what a specific technology could be like 20 years from now. ExploraVision is funded by
Toshiba and administered by the National Science Teachers Association. The entry
deadline is February 4, 2003.
StudyWorks Teaching Grant Program
Educators and schools are asked to submit a
detailed proposal of how they would incorporate StudyWorks into their curriculum
and classes. The winning entries will receive a lab grant for 25 seats of
StudyWorks and additional copies of StudyWorks for the school media center.
The entry deadline is January 15, 2003.
The
Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship Program was enacted by Congress and is funded by the Department of Energy-Office
of Science with participation from federal agencies, including NASA, the
National
Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Science and Technology. It
provides an opportunity for current public or private elementary and secondary
mathematics, technology, and science classroom teachers with demonstrated
excellence in teaching to serve in the national public policy arena. For
additional information about the program, visit the Triangle Coalition's
website. Fellows receive a compensation
of at least $5,000 a month. The application deadline is February 1, 2003.
