Literacy Providers: A Resource for Referral by Michele Benedict and Judith C. Stull, Accessible Educational Technology: Minimum Standards for Computer Software by Kathy Rupert and Accessible Technology: Minimum Standards for Computer Hardware  by Kathy Rupert.

BulletCongratulations to the four individuals who won $50 gift certificates to Barnes and Noble Bookstores as part of MAR*TEC's Impact Survey. Certificates will be sent out no later than November 15, 2002.

BulletE-Rate Year 2003: November 4th marks the opening of E-rate's 6th year. The filing window closes on January 16 2003; applicants who file early receive early notice of the funding decision. In addition, the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) has identified all applicants in Category 4 defined in the new guidance on CIPA for libraries that received funding commitments for Funding Year 2001.

BulletCongress Extends "Fair Use" Clause to Digital Education: Congress recently passed a bill allowing educators to utilize digitized portions of copyrighted materials in distance learning programs. eSchoolNews discusses the implications of The Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization (TEACH) Act.

BulletFree Mac OS X to Educators" From now through Dec. 31, 2002, qualifying teachers can receive a free copy of Mac OS X from Apple; they aim to show how this system can be a powerful tool for technology integration.
