On May 23rd, The New York Times published an article titled "Finding Free Internet Access for Those Without." The article reports on a group of non-profit organizations that are creating a database, ConnectNet, that provide information about free internet access sites, including libraries and community technology centers. The database is searchable by zip code so
people can find resources in their community. Free internet access is especially important in the summer when schools close and many students' main access site for the internet is unavailable.
ConnectNet also has a Spanish counterpart, Conectado. To read the article, view the Times article at online

Conducting a Technology "Needs Assessment? NetDayCompass.org is a free, comprehensive portal of education technology resources. The site lists over 1,300 high-quality resources including tools and resources to help schools assess infrastructure capabilities, hardware and software needs, student and teacher skill levels, and current technology use in classrooms.
