Rodney
West represents Essex County. Educated at Rutgers and
Montclair University, Mr. West was recruited under a
special state department program to work in urban
education. He has been a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher
in the Orange School District for 20 years. His project,
"My
Community: Past, Present, and Future" uses
puppetry to develop writing skills and employs
playwriting as a means of helping students transform
what they learn about their community into theater.
