The Mid-Atlantic Regional Technology in Education Consortium (MAR*TEC), serving Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia, is one of ten federally funded R*TECs that help states, districts, teachers, and administrators to integrate technologies into K-12 classrooms. MAR*TEC's Professional Development Workshops are designed to help you meet the increased demands of No Child Left Behind for quality teaching and technology proficiency. MAR*TEC's workshops provide schools or school districts with a broad array of workshops, customized to fit your professional development programming needs. We can help your faculty and administrators integrate technology effectively into the curriculum to reach the national goal of improving student achievement. After the workshop, we can give you extended support to make sure that newly acquired skills get incorporated into the classroom. MAR*TEC workshops come with the option of sustained follow-up activities using our innovative online tool, ReflectionConnection. We can provide coaches to follow up MAR*TEC's workshops or train your own staff to integrate ReflectionConnection into your ongoing professional development program.

Learn how to use online learning tools such as HPR*TEC's Trackstar© and online lessons such as WebQuests to enhance student research projects.

Using Technology to Enhance Project-Based Learning
Discover how your students can incorporate research strategies, use databases and spreadsheets to organize and evaluate information, and use presentation software to report information.

Integrating Technology into the Curriculum: Math/ Science
This workshop will give participants a hands-on approach to integrating technology into the math or science curriculum by learning how to use spreadsheets to record and analyze data.

Integrating Technology into Regular Classrooms to Differentiate Instruction for Students with Diverse Learning Abilities
Discover common accessibility problems of instructional software and online content. Learn alternative instructional strategies and accommodations and develop plans for implementing appropriate technology.

Internet Safety
Using Cybersmart's Internet safety materials for K-12 classrooms (www.cybersmart.org), this workshop will show educators how to help children become street smart on the information highway.

Internet Crimes
Specially trained police department detectives will address the use and abuse of the Internet from a law enforcement perspective.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS

Develop long-term strategies to improve the capacity of teachers to integrate technology effectively into curricula and instruction.
Align goals to advance technology with state content and student achievement standards.
Devise a process and accountability measures to evaluate effective integration of technology into curricula and instruction.
Assure that students and teachers (especially in underserved, high-need areas) have increased access to technology.
Provide technical assistance to districts serving the highest percentages of impoverished or otherwise high-need children.
Provide technology resources and systems that promote best practices.
Develop innovative strategies for delivering specialized academic courses and curricula to districts that would otherwise miss out on such opportunities due to isolated geographic locale or limited resources.
Increase parental involvement through technology.
