Educators involved in connecting schools and classrooms to the Internet are increasingly hearing about the prospects and advantages of wireless technologies. According to QED, two thirds of those who responded to a random survey were implementing wireless solutions.
The intent of the ATEC/MAR*TEC Forum is to discuss some of the critical issues that need to be addressed when wireless solutions are being considered. Using a roundtable format, panelists from the FCC; Schools and Library Commission; Schools, Industry, and Wireless Communities (such as Cumberland, Maryland) will review such questions as how E-rate and other funding sources can support wireless technologies, protocol choice, total cost of ownership, and security issues.
