Dexterity and Strength Impairments:

Dexterity refers to the skill and grace in which a student makes movements, especially with her hands. A person with dexterity or strength problems may have trouble typing, lifting, moving, and/or holding a pointing device such as a mouse. Though some individuals can hold the mouse, the majority of individuals with dexterity problems cannot control it with enough accuracy to perform a desired task.

If a user has a dexterity problem, the instructional software must be compatible with voice input devices or accessibility features within the personal operating system such as "sticky key" options. Sticky-keys allow the user to press key combinations sequentially rather than simultaneously.
