A major emphasis of my teaching is to use technology to develop a safe classroom, where students know that they have entered a community of learners and are willing to share their knowledge. In my classroom there should be no fear and learning is done in a loving and nuturing environment.
My teaching utilizes technology to enhance my student's learning. My lectures are now all done so that the material I present is available for the students to review 24/7. Images, including animations are included in the presentations and are used to enable to students to appreciate the three dimensional elements of the topics that I teach. I use the internet heavily with course notes on the Web to allow students access to as much information as is available. My goal is to use technology to enhance my student's understanding of the structure of the body and how it developed. Inherent in this teaching philosophy is that deep learning occurs as students are encouraged to actively engage in the learning process and not when they are simply motivated to learn lots of facts.
