Student Feedback Forms (SFFs)

Information for Instructors

Information for Students Information for Instructors Administrative Information

Introduction

Every instructor – each person teaching at the University – is required to have his or her teaching evaluated by students every semester using a standard form adopted for such purpose. [Policy (02.78.14), Nov. 2002]

Student feedback is anonymous and confidential; results are available in composite form after grades have been submitted and evaluations processed. Please be advised that to preserve student anonymity data are not reported for any course in which the enrollment is fewer than eight students.

e-SFFs

As announced in Provost Englert's March 14, 2012 email, effective Summer 2012, the SFFs for undergraduate and graduate courses will be conducted online.

Instructors are encouraged to take a few minutes during class to speak to their students about the importance of providing course and instructor feedback and to encourage them to complete the Student Feedback Forms online.  The content of the online SFF is the same as the paper form.

The students included in the administration of online SFFs will be sent an e-mail, asking them to complete their evaluations online.  If there are additional items for your course, please provide those items to the students before they are due to receive their e-mail.

Good news! The website is mobile-friendly, so instructors and students can complete their SFFs on a smartphone or mobile device with either a 3G/4G cellular data plan or through a wireless connection.

Reports

The turnaround time for e-SFFs is quicker than for the paper SFFs. Reports for the online data will be available within a couple of weeks of the close of grading. Reports from the paper-based administration are available approximately six weeks after the last day of classes for the semester. The SFF reports are in electronic form via a secure site on the Temple Portal (TUportal).

On TUportal at the SFF/CATE reports site, you can also find answers to frequently asked questions, a short guide on interpreting your SFF or CATE reports, and links to resources in our Teaching and Learning Center.

To access the TUportal, go to the web site http://tuportal.temple.edu and enter your AccessNet ID and password. Once logged into TUportal, click on the "SFF/CATE Reports" link in the TUapplications list. A menu will appear that lists your available SFF/CATE reports by semester. To view a report, click on the course reference number. The reports and interpretive guides are displayed as PDF files that can be printed or saved locally.

Only instructors who have had SFFs or CATE forms processed will be able to see the SFF/CATE Reports link on TUportal. NOTE: If you have difficulty logging in, please contact Computer Services Help Desk through the TUhelp website at tuhelp.temple.edu or call 215-204-8000.
