Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. Beta Epsilon Chapter was founded at the University of Pennsylvania on July 31, 1998. The journey began during the Spring Semester of 1998, when Jzeitel Chacon, a Rho Chapter (Rutgers University, Camden) Alumni sister and National Recruiter at the time, held a social on campus. Eight ladies attended the social, but six ladies went on to form the Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha on a quest to find a sisterhood that was missing both on campus and in their lives. The Interested Ladies volunteered at a local soup kitchen and participated in an Outreach Program organized by the Sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. and the Brothers of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. at Rutgers Camden. The Interested Ladies also co-sponsored a party on Penn’s campus in conjunction with the sisters from Rho Chapter during Penn Relays weekend.

Although the sisters gave the Interested ladies encouragement, the group nevertheless, lost two ladies. When the ladies crossed into the sisterhood of Lambda Theta Alpha, four lovely Lambda Ladies:
Adela Jessica Llumpo, Zadith Erika Pino, Ricarda Melodie White, and Kathy DiPasquale had survived the journey to become the founding sisters of Beta Epsilon Chapter, Lambda Theta Alpha’s first Ivy League as well as Philadelphia chapter. These four women from
Peruvian, El Salvadorian, African American, Costa Rican, Puerto Rican, Guatemalan, and Italian descent to represent the diversity that comprises the Latino identity. Staying true to the principles of their Founding Mothers of Lambda Theta Alpha these ladies continued to educate the Penn community about their diverse cultures and help to empower the Latino community.

In Fall of 2000 the tremendous efforts of one dedicated woman Jessica Womack introduced The Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha to Temple University. After a successful Social and Informational session held by the Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha a new interest organization on campus was formed consisting of 9 interested ladies. Many ladies came and went as the challenge to find a means to bring Lambda Theta Alpha to Temple University was backed by various community services such as Soup Kitchen feedings, Breast Cancer Walks; and fundraisers consisting of Candy Gram Sales, Tuck Ins and Raffles. Finally on December 1, 2001 three dedicated ladies Amethyst Bentham, Lisandra Sanchez and Jessica Womack took on the challenge and successfully became sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., Beta Epsilon Chapter, now a ‘metro’ chapter consisting of the University of Pennsylvania & Temple University.
