LSS Continues Its Series of Advanced Study Institutes on
Such Topics as Monitoring and Evaluating Program Implementation and Outcomes
The Laboratory for Student Success (LSS) continues to sponsor Advanced Study Institutes
at Temple University in Philadelphia. These Institutes provide an opportunity for
school professionals to study the needs identified in the school data over
the previous year. Research and guidance are provided in these areas: Early
Childhood, Integration of Technology and Curriculum, Inclusion, Professional
Development, Parent/Community Involvement, School Reform, and Diversity.
Teams develop implementation plans for their schools.
On June 13, 2001, LSS and participants completed the first part of a two-part Advanced Study Institute
on "Monitoring and Evaluating Program Implementation and Outcomes." At this session, participants:
- • designed and reviewed implementation plans that identify and monitor a
district initiative or program;
- • developed, revised, or refined a rubric for the initiative or program;
and
- • designed a strategy to collect initiative or program data.
At the October 13, 2001 session, the second part of the two-part Advanced Study Institute on "Monitoring and
Evaluating Program Implementation and Outcomes," participants:
- • developed a timeline and strategy to analyze collected data (collected
data was required for participation in this session); and
- • developed next-step strategies based on the data analysis.
