How to Use this Site |
 |
 |
In general, the CPIE website contains information, such
as facts or news about federal and state programs that
offer educational support to parents, educational
options offered by the School District of Philadelphia,
or the names of charter and independent schools in the
Delaware valley. It offers guidance, such as questions
to ask when you are selecting a school for your child.
And it provides links to other resources, such as local
and national parent organizations or articles that may
be useful to parents. Our goal is to provide access to a
wide range of educational opportunities, services,
programs, organizations, information, and support
programs so that you can investigate the educational
policies, structures, and opportunities that interest
you.
Although we have tried to filter out any false or
misleading material, many of the links included lead to
sites or articles with different or conflicting points
of view. When using the site, we encourage you to stick
to your guns, ask the questions that matter to you, and
weigh your own views against those of others. Only you
can decide what works best for you and your family, and
part of getting good advice is to decide which “experts”
and what advice suit you best—particularly when you are
selecting the best educational path for your children.

 |
- If you have a specific question (about federal
programs for example), then the easiest thing to do is
to use the
Site Map or the
Quick Links to go directly to the appropriate
section.
|
- If you have a more complex question (for example,
how to sort out the benefits and challenges associated
with public, charter, or private schools, or how to
determine if your child’s teacher is serving your
child well), then you might want to go directly to our
section on
Resources to Help Parents Make Good Educational
Choices to help with educational decision
making.
|
- If you have a more general question, you can enter
keywords into the LSS
Search function and search the entire LSS website.
|
- If none of these strategies brings you to what you
want, feel free to
Contact Us with your question or make an
appointment to come in to talk to someone in our
Information Center.
