State-of-the-Art Seminars provide information on recent advances
in the research and practical knowledge base of learning technologies use.
Organized by ATL themes, the one-day seminars begin with an overview of
recent research and a discussion of implications for improving current
practices. Group discussions focus on school-based technology integration
efforts that have proven to be effective and on promising technologies
finding new uses in schools.
What Works Workshops provide a practical overview of leading and
emerging technologies supporting learning and student achievement in each of
the ATLīs themes. Each one combines hands-on activities, samples of
effective classroom-based uses, and a synthesis of relevant research.
Participants have opportunities to critically examine the features of these
technologies, consider how they might be applied in their particular
contexts, and weigh developing trends. As part of the follow up to the
workshops, participants can sign up for advanced-study opportunities devoted
to particular topics or enlist ATL guidance as they begin to design applied
projects.
Advanced Study Institutes are multiple session workshops that
provide opportunities to learn in-depth about specific strategies and
technology solutions related to each of the ATLīs central themes. Teams of
participants design plans for implementation and evaluation within their own
school contexts and coordinate their efforts in collaboration with ATL
staff. Activity includes formal meetings, on-line support and collaboration,
and implementation/evaluation assistance (continuing education credits
available). |
