Convocation is a special ceremony symbolizing the beginning of your academic journey. Hear important messages from university faculty, administrators and the student body president. Convocation is REQUIRED for all new students. After Convocation, join us at Anderson Hall Mezzanine for a Welcome-to-Temple barbecue lunch.

IBC Open Hours

Event Time: 12:00-9:00PM

Brief description of the event: The Independence Blue Cross Student Recreation Center provides students, employees and alumni of the University with a variety of recreational opportunities. You will need your student ID for access. Learn more about IBC.

TUF Open Hours                                                                               

Event Time: 12:00-8:00 PM
Event Location:  1600 N. Broad Street
TUF is a Campus Recreation fitness facility with nearly 16,000 sq. ft. of space that includes: cardio machines, selectorized machines, light weights and stretch/ab/core areas. You will need your student ID for access. Learn more about TUF

Pearson and McGonigle Halls, third Floor Recreation Courts

Event Time: 12:00-8:00PM
Event Location:  1800 N. Broad Street

The Pearson and McGonigle Halls Rec Courts facility is 32,000 square feet of space divided by 3 mechanical curtains that can section off four indoor multi-purpose court areas or be raised to allow for full area events such as: Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton & a Golf Driving Range. You will need your student ID for access.

Second Floor Fitness Mezzanine

Event Time: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Event Location: 1800 N. Broad Street

The Fitness Mezzanine is 2,200 sq. ft. and features 12 cardio machines, 8 selectorized pieces, interactive Xbox Kinect and Nintendo Wii gaming stations, and 2 heavy bags and 2 speed bag workout stations. You will need your student ID for access.

Campus Tours

Event Location: Welcome Center
Brief description of the event: Haven’t seen the campus yet? The Welcome Center is the first stop for our new students and parents. The facility includes a reception area and a 100-seat auditorium. Come by for a 45 minute walking tour of campus.

Climbing Wall

Event Time: 1:00-6:00PM
Event Location: 1800 N. Broad Street (Atrium)

Recreational climbing is available featuring a 26-foot climbing wall and a 12-foot bouldering wall.  Equipment available for recreational use include harnesses, carabiners and climbing shoes. You will need your student ID for access.

The Beat at Temple

Interested in getting a start on your media career? You've come to the right place! Meet student editors, reporters and managers from The Temple News (newspaper), Templar yearbook, WHIP (student Internet radio station), and TUTV. A tour of these student media facilities will follow the presentation. After that, you’ll also have your choice of coming with us to tour the offices of The Philadelphia Inquirer, CBS 3 or KYW Newsradio, where you’ll find that Temple graduates who were once in your shoes are working all over the nation’s fourth-largest media market.

Connect with Disability Resources and Services (DRS)

Join the Disability Resources and Services department to learn about ways to connect on campus. This social event will feature information about Eye to Eye mentoring program, Peer Coaching, and Social Xchanges, as well as the scholarship and internship programs offered by the DRS department.

Leadership 101

Leadership Development is crucial to achieving success during college. Join us for food, fun and facts as we provide the five W’s – who, what, when, where and why – to getting the resources you need to empower others through leadership. By the end of the one-hour session, students will feel excited and encouraged to take action on campus. This event, presented by the Office of Leadership Development, is open to all Temple University students.

Newman Center Cookout
