LOGISTICS
The event will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009, in Alter Hall on Temple University's Main Campus. The cost to attend the Conference for the full day is $200, or $175 for members of the Temple Law Alumni Association and the Temple University Healthcare Management Alumni Association. For half-day attendance, attendance is $100, or $90 for TLAA or TUHMMA members. Current Temple students may attend for $20.

CLE CREDITS
The Conference is offering 6 Substantive Credits for attendance, one credit for each hour panel. For questions about CLE Credits for states other than Pennsylvania, please contact the symposium editor Duncan Lloyd at dlloyd@temple.edu.
Requests for Scholarship Assistance for Continuing Education Credits for the Conference should be sent by email to dfeldman@temple.edu and halferty@temple.edu. Please include your name, place of employment, whether you wish to register for a full or half day, and the reason for your request.
PROGRAM
The conference's program consists of six one-hour panels, as well as a forty-five minute keynote speaker presentation following the morning panels.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
The keynote speaker will be Calvin Johnson, M.D., M.P.H., Vice President and CMO ofTemple University Health System. University of Pennsylvania Law School. Dr. Johnson has previously served as the Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The keynote address will begin at noon.
MORNING PANELS
The morning panels will be moderated by Professor Frank McClellan, the Beck Chair Professor of Law at Temple University Beasley School of Law.
Panel 1 - 9:00 a.m - 10:00 a.m.
Perspectives and Experiences of the Underclass and Other Outsiders
The panel will focus on health disparities among children, patients with HIV/AIDS, and the elderly.
Panel members include:
- Robin Foster Drain, Executive Director of To Our Children's Future Health, Inc.
- Ronda Goldfein, Executive Director of the AIDS Law Project.
- Jane Shull, Executive Director of Philadelphia FIGHT (Field Initiating Group for HIV Trials).
- Michael Campbell, Esq., Reuschlein Clinical Teaching Fellow at Villanova University School of Law, formerly of the Philadelphia Health Law Project.
Panel 2 - 10:00 a.m - 11:00 a.m.
Race, Gender, and Ethnicity: Health Problems and Barriers
The panel will focus on access to care and quality of careen hospitals, nursing homes, and primary healthcare centers. The panel will also discuss behavioral health issues.
Panel members include:
- David Barton Smith, Ph.D., Center for Health Equality, Drexel University.
- Professor Ruqaiijah A. Yearby, , University of Buffalo Law School and School of Public Health and Health Professions.
- Richard Eisenstaedt, M.D., CMO, Abington Memorial Hospital
- Jamahal C. Boyd, Director of the Office of Health Equity, Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Panel 3 -11:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.
Public Health Perspectives on Health Disparities
The panel will focus on the impact of laws on the individual behavior of citizens, patients, and providers. The panel will also discuss the role of nurse practitioners

- Tine Hansen-Turton, CEO, National Nursing Centers Consortium.
- Jane Shull, Executive Director of Philadelphia FIGHT (Field Initiating Group for HIV Trials).
- Nan Feyler, J.D., M.P.H, Commissioner's Office Chief of Staff, Philadelphia Department of Health.
KEYNOTE ADDRESS
The morning panels program will be followed by the keynote speaker, Dr. Calvin Johnson, from 12:00 p.m to 12:45 p.m.
AFTERNOON PANELS
The afternoon panels will begin at 1:00 p.m and will be moderated by Dr. Brian McDonough, Chariman of the Department of Family Medicine at St. Francis Hospital. Dr. McDonough also serves as KYW News Radio Medical Editor and a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Temple University School of Medicine
Panel 4 -1:00 p.m - 2:00 p.m.
Hospital Care: Financial Impact of Caring for the Underserved
Panel members include:
- Albert Black, COO, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
- Beth Koob, Esq., Chief Counsel, Temple University Health System.
- Ala Stanford Frey, M.D., Director, Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities at Temple University School of Medicine.
- Amy H. Goldberg, M.D., Section Chief, Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at Temple University School of Medicine.
Panel 5 -2:00 p.m - 3:00 p.m.
Aligning Financial Incentives with the Practice of Medicine
Panel members include:

- Patti Deitch, President and CEO, Delaware Valley Community Health

At the conclusion of the sixth panel, there will be an opportunity to attendees to engage all of the panelists and moderators in an open discussion over the subjects covered during the conference

Temple Law Review is a student-edited scholarly journal that publishes four issues per year. The Law Review is dedicated to providing a forum for the expression of new legal thought and scholarly commentary on important developments, trends, and issues in the law. Each issue contains articles written by judges, legal scholars, and practitioners, as well as recent notes and comments written by members of the Law Review staff. Temple Law Review has been published continuously since 1927.
