The Temple Law Review is pleased to offer an Essay preview of an article set to appear in our Fall 2009 issue, forthcoming in 2010. In Shaping an Obama Doctrine of Preemptive Force, Professor Tai-Heng Cheng and Eduardas Valaitis take advantage of the election of President Barack Obama to examine the United States' military policy. The article seeks to "bridge the gap between those who support wider legal authorization to use force . . . and those who oppose such authorization" by finding a "middle ground." The authors propose five strategies to promote security for the United States, and this Essay provides an early look at the final article, appearing in our Fall 2009 issue. We hope you will take this opportunity to review this Essay, and we look forward to the publication of the final Article in 2010.
