Learning
about Amateur Radio

An
Amateur Radio license is not required
to join TUARC. However, a license
is required for unsupervised access to club station K3TU in Room 918 of the
Engineering and Architecture Building (12th and Norris Streets). Earning an
Amateur
Radio license requires the study of basic electronic
and radio theory and Federal Communications Commission regulations. A knowledge
of Morse code is no longer required for the Technician, General
and Extra class licenses, although Morse code activity remains a strong
component of Amateur Radio. One easy-to-use study manual for the
entry level Technician license is
"Now
You're Talking", published by the ARRL. The ARRL also offers audio cassettes
and audio CDs for learning
Morse
Code.
