HF/VHF/UHF/Repeater Stations

Amateur Radio operators are licensed
by the
Federal Communications Commission
(FCC).
Amateur Radio is
a non-commercial, non-political endeavor. Thanks to the generosity
of Temple University, TUARC members use the fully equipped Amateur Radio
station located at the
College of
Engineering
on Temple's main campus. TUARC has contacted
Amateur Radio stations in every state (Worked All
States) and over 250 foreign
countries (DX Century Club).
The
VHF/UHF
station for CW, SSB, FSK and PSK are ICOM IC271,
IC471, and IC1271 transceivers for all-mode operation on the 144, 440 and 1296
MHz Amateur Radio bands. The
HF station
is a Kenwood TS430S for CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK. Click on the VHF/UHF and HF
station thumbnail pictures to see the club station equipment.

TUARC was formally organized in 1959 and has held the
Amateur Radio callsigns K3KJI and WA3TVT.

Club station K3TU is equipped with radio transceivers and antennas for
all
Amateur Radio HF (3-30 M
Hz), VHF (30-300 MHz), UHF (300-3000 MHz) and
microwave (2.4, 5.6, 10 GHz) bands, and many modes of
analog and digital communication, including amateur television (ATV) and amateur
satellite operation. TUARC's antenna system atop the Engineering and
Architecture Building consists of three towers
with a Yagi and multiband dipoles for HF, and a variety of VHF and UHF Yagi and helical antennas at
150 feet above ground level. TUARC members regularly contact Amateur Radio
operators throughout the world. TUARC is affiliated with the ARRL and is a member of the fraternal
organization 10-10
International.

TUARC operates two FM radio repeaters
that serve the greater Philadelphia area and are
open to all
Amateur Radio
operators. The repeaters are manufactured by ICOM, with Waccom duplexers,
and use an ACC microprocessor controller. The output
frequencies are
224.8 MHz and 442.8 MHz with
a PL tone of 131.8 Hz. When using the TUARC repeaters, be courteous
and observe FCC regulations.
