The supervising faculty member should copy and paste the text below onto Department letterhead to explain how the J-1 Scholars's program activities will continue while J-1 is outside the U.S. Please give the original to the J-1 scholar and email a copy to ISSS at sharonl@temple.edu

The J-1 Scholar is expected to be outside the U.S. during the period from [from date] to [to date]. During this period, the J-1 Scholar is expected to engage in the following activities, which are directly related to his/her J-1 exchange program as follows:

The J-1 Scholar does not receive insurance from Temple University; s/he will maintain insurance that meets US Department of State criteria

I will coordinate with the Administrator in my department to alert ISSS in the event that the out-of-country dates change or the J-1 Scholar discontinues program participation.
