If you are currently studying in the U.S. in a nonimmigrant student status, you must have your Sevis record transferred from your current school to Temple University. Do not request that your record be transferred to Temple until you have been admitted to Temple.
The ISSS does not handle applications for admissions; therefore admissions materials (test scores, transcripts, etc) should not be sent directly to this office. Contact the appropriate admissions office for answers to admissions questions.
You will need your AccessNet username and password that was issued to you by Temple University. If you do not have your password, contact the Temple University Help Desk by telephone only at 215 204-8000. During the semester, they are normally open 24 hours a day. If you don’t get through to them, they will call the phone number, even overseas, that you give them. You must leave them the following information: 1) Telephone Number (Country Code/ Number) 2) Time Difference 3) time when you are available to receive their call.
Transferring Your Sevis Record
F-1 Visa Holders:
Tell the International Student Adviser at your current school that you are transferring to Temple University. S/he must "release" your SEVIS record to Temple University. You must wait until you know you're admitted to Temple to request the
release of your SEVIS record.
Email ISSS (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Fax (215-204-6166) a copy of your current I-20 and I-94 card; if possible, include your Temple University ID number along with an indication of the "Sevis Release Date"
The I-20 from Temple University can only be issued upon reaching the "release date" specified by your current school.
Your I-20 will be mailed to you once we have a completed application and have reached the release date.
When you arrive at Temple, you must check in with International Student and Scholar Services first. You must bring your passport and your I-94 (the white card in your passport) to ISSS. You will be asked to complete a form and then you may register for classes.
You must have completed an immigration transfer to Temple University within 15 days of the beginning of the term.
The International Student and Scholar Services must promptly report school transfer to the INS.
Failure to report to ISSS by the stated deadline violates your F-1 (student) immigration status and terminates your legal status in the United States.
J-1 Visa Holders
You must tell the Responsible Officer/Alternate Responsible Officer that you plan to transfer to Temple University. The Responsible Officer/Alternate Responsible Officer will have to release your SEVIS record so we can issue the DS-2019. If you are traveling outside the United States, you must re-enter the United States with the DS-2019 that will be prepared for you by Temple University.
When you arrive at Temple, you must check in with International Student and Scholar Services first. There will be a "hold" on your record which will prohibit your registration until you have come through out office. You must bring your passport and your I-94 (the white card in your passport) to ISSS. You will be asked to complete a form and then you may register for classes.
