THE ISRST REVIEW

The ISRST Review: Reflections on Race and Social Thought (II)
Issue II, January 2008

The link between race and social inequalities around the world cannot be denied, but more often than not, it seems to be pushed “under the rug” by some academics, politicians, and even religious leaders. One cannot have rigorous and informed debates about Hurricane Katrina, the state of the American public education system, or the genocide in Darfur, Sudan without discussing issues of race and racism. Providing a platform for individuals to share their research and express their concerns through written and artistic reflections can only contribute to social, economic and political progress. By creating a widely read publication for students and faculty creatively to express themselves through art, poetry, essays and reviews, we are creating a forum for healthy discussion.

The ISRST Review: Reflections on Race and Social Thought (I)
Issue I, March 2007

One of the missions of the Institute for the Study of Race and Social Thought is to provide forums for research on race and racism.  The addition of “social thought” is to stress our preference for scholarship that make connections between race and other facets of social life. The purpose of the ISRST Review is to provide a forum in which Temple undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty could meet in dialogue on this important subject.
