The College of Liberal Arts and the wider Temple Community celebrated the life of Rosa Parks with selected readings by Dr. Bettye Collier-Thomas, Professor of History, her undergraduate students, and a finale commemoration by Dr. Anthony Monteiro, co-director for the Institute for the Study of Race and Social Thought. By Jill M. Humphries, Ph.D.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING PHILOSOPHERS...A HALLOWEEN EVENT
 
 
Night of the Living Philosophers, with presentations by Noel Carroll, Temple University, Lewis Gordon, Temple University, and special guest Anne Eaton, Princeton University and the University of Illinois. Sponsored by the Society of Fellows, the History Department, and the Philosophy Department at Temple University, the presentations will take place On October 31, 2005, in the Russell Weigley Room, Gladfelter 914, beginning at 3:30. At 5:30 all in attendance will be invited to the Offices of the Society of Fellows in Humanities on the 10th floor of Glafelter for a reception featuring a reading by Temple University’s Samuel Delany and the band, Hank’s Cadillac. The wearing of costumes is encouraged but not required.

LANGUAGE'S FACE, LANGUAGES MIRROR: A LECTURE BY PROFESSOR HAGI KENAAN
 
  Professor Hagi Kenaan is the author of The Present Personal: Philosophy and the Hidden Face of Language, Columbia University Press, 2005, and , in Hebrew, a work of fiction, One Special Day, Philosophy (a children’s book), Modan Publishers, 2000, in addition to many articles in philosophical journals and anthologies.   His accolades include the The Alon Fellowship, Tel-Aviv University , which is the highest ranking academic fellowship in Israel for young scholars and scientists.   Professor Kanaan is also a poet, whose work has been published in some of Israel’s leading literary journals and magazines.   This talk is sponsored by the Center for Afro-Jewish Studies and the Department of Philosophy at Temple University.
