following:
Oral Presentations
The time allocated for paper
presentations will be determined as the conference program is finalized and that
information will be posted here so that you can plan your talk. In all cases,
time will be reserved for audience questions and discussion.
The main meeting room for the conference will be The Auditorium, a
large space on the first floor with views over the Plaça delsÀngels
and the Plaça de les Caramelles. The space features comprehensive technical
facilities including screen with multimedia video-projector, ADSL (broadband)
connection, VHS video, press rack and so on. More information and photos are
available here (.pdf
file).
If you have questions about resources or
technical issues, please contact Giulio
Ruffini at presence2007@starlab.org.
AV support staff will be present in between sessions to help you with
equipment set-up, and remain there on standby if any problems should arise
during your presentation.
Immediately after the presenter before you finishes speaking please get up
and begin any computer and/or microphone set-up required to prepare for your
talk; during this time the session chair will coordinate audience questions for
the previous speaker; as soon as you're ready to begin your talk, please
indicate your readiness to the chair, who will wrap up the questioning and
introduce you.
Posters
Please set up the poster at the beginning of the
conference and remove it at the end. Display space for each poster will be provided. Check back
here for details about the dimensions of the space. Tape and/or pins will be
provided for mounting.
Each poster presenter will be asked to make a short
(maximum 5 minute) introduction of their work to the attendees during a new
hybrid presentation/poster session (no computer or overhead projector will be
used during these short introductions). Following the introductions, at least one of
the authors must be at the poster to discuss and answer questions about their
work.
For information on how to
maximize the effectiveness of oral and poster presentations, please consult
these and/or other resources:
- At the conference, oral presenters should meet with
their session chair at least a few minutes before the session begins.
To minimize the time for transitions between presenters, please be ready to
make computer and microphone switches immediately after the previous speaker
concludes.
Information for Session Chairs
Thank you for agreeing to chair a session at PRESENCE
2007. Please read this important information:
At the conference please meet with the presenters in
your session before the session begins. Unless there's a compelling
reason, please have the presenters speak in the order in the conference
program.
Unless otherwise noted, oral
presentations will likely each be allocated 15 minutes, followed by as many as 5
minutes for audience questions and discussion. We'll provide
you with hard copy signs and/or an electronic timer - please time each
presenter and after 10 minutes indicate to them that they have 5 minutes
left; if they don't finish within 5 more minutes, indicate that the
allotted time has elapsed; if necessary indicate that they need to "finish
up." After each presenter finishes speaking the next
speaker should get up and begin any computer and/or microphone
set-up required to prepare for their talk; during this time please invite
questions from the audience. As soon as the next speaker is ready to begin
their talk, please allow the previous speaker to finish their answer and
then introduce the next speaker. After all the speakers have finished there
should be more time for questions to any of the presenters.
If you have any questions about your role as session
chair please contact
the Program Committee Chair, Wijnand
Ijsselsteijn at w.a.ijsselsteijn@tm.tue.nl.
