Information for Presenters

Congratulations on being selected to present your work at PRESENCE 2006. Please read this important information:

  1. If you haven't done so already, please read the reviews of your submission by logging in to your author account

:: Click here to log in to an existing online author account ::

If you have forgotten your account username and password, please e-mail help@ispr.info

  2. After you've read and considered the reviews please make any revisions requested by the reviewers and other changes you wish to make, add complete author identification information, and remove all page numbers. This new version will be included in the official conference proceedings and may be posted on the ISPR or presence-research.org web sites prior to the conference. Please use the exact format specifications in the proceedings template:

:: Click here to download the MS Word template for PRESENCE 2006 proceedings ::

Illustrations, graphs, and photographs must be readable in MS Word and be placed within the text rather than at the end. They may fit across both columns, if necessary. All images must be in black and white; please supply the best quality photographs and illustrations possible.

NOTE: The revised versions of submissions accepted as
posters must be no longer than 2 pages in this template format. For submissions accepted as panels, the revised versions of the abstract for each paper on the panel must be no longer than 1 page in this template format. The revised versions of demonstrations accepted for submission must be no longer than 1 page in this template.

  3. No later than July 20, 2006 e-mail your revised paper and a short accompanying 'response to reviewers' note indicating how you have dealt with reviewer comments to the conference co-chair Cheryl Campanella Bracken at c.bracken@csuohio.edu.

  4. Please register for the conference on or before July 20, 2006 to insure that your work will be included in the conference program.

  5. In preparing your presentation please note the following:

Oral Presentations

The time allocated for paper presentations will be determined as the conference program is finalized and that information will be posted here so that you can plan your talk. In all cases, time will be reserved for audience questions and discussion.

The main meeting room for the conference will be Room 107 in the Music & Communication building, located at 2001 Euclid Street; more information is available here.

If you have questions about resources or technical issues, please contact Cheryl Bracken at c.bracken@csuohio.edu.

AV support staff will be present in between sessions to help you with equipment set-up, and remain there on standby if any problems should arise during your presentation.

Immediately after the presenter before you finishes speaking please get up and begin any computer and/or microphone set-up required to prepare for your talk; during this time the session chair will coordinate audience questions for the previous speaker; as soon as you're ready to begin your talk, please indicate your readiness to the chair, who will wrap up the questioning and introduce you.

Posters

Please set up the poster at the beginning of the conference and remove it at the end. Display space for each poster will be provided. Check back here for details about the dimensions of the space. Tape and/or pins will be provided for mounting.

Each poster presenter will be asked to make a short (maximum 5 minute) introduction of their work to the attendees during a new hybrid presentation/poster session (no computer or overhead projector will be used during these short introductions). Following the introductions, at least one of the authors must be at the poster to discuss and answer questions about their work.

For information on how to maximize the effectiveness of oral and poster presentations, please consult these and/or other resources:

  1. At the conference, oral presenters should meet with their session chair at least a few minutes before the session begins. To minimize the time for transitions between presenters, please be ready to make computer and microphone switches immediately after the previous speaker concludes.

Information for Session Chairs

Thank you for agreeing to chair a session at PRESENCE 2006. Please read this important information:

At the conference please meet with the presenters in your session before the session begins. Unless there's a compelling reason, please have the presenters speak in the order in the conference program.

Unless otherwise noted, oral presentations will likely each be allocated 15 minutes, followed by as many as 5 minutes for audience questions and discussion. We'll provide you with hard copy signs and/or an electronic timer - please time each presenter and after 10 minutes indicate to them that they have 5 minutes left; if they don't finish within 5 more minutes, indicate that the allotted time has elapsed; if necessary indicate that they need to "finish up." After each presenter finishes speaking the next speaker should get up and begin any computer and/or microphone set-up required to prepare for their talk; during this time please invite questions from the audience. As soon as the next speaker is ready to begin their talk, please allow the previous speaker to finish their answer and then introduce the next speaker. After all the speakers have finished there should be more time for questions to any of the presenters.

If you have any questions about your role as session chair please contact the Program Committee Chair, Matthew Lombard, at lombard@temple.edu.
