The talk will discuss ongoing research at the Media Interface and Network Design (M.I.N.D.) Labs. A focus of research at the M.I.N.D. Labs is embodied computing. Embodied computing explores ways in which cognitive operations can be supported by mapping information and data manipulation operations to affordances used by the sensorimotor system. The talk will discuss how embodiment and presence are linked, and present recent data on intersensory conflict, spatial cognition, and synesthesia in immersive virtual environments.
