Welcome to the website of the 2^nd International Workshop on Presence. This Workshop will take place on Tuesday April 6^th and Wednesday April 7^th 1999 at Wivenhoe House Hotel and Conference Centre, University of Essex, Colchester, UK.

We aim to provide an open discussion forum in which we can share fruitful concepts for presence research, useful measurement methodologies and discuss applications in areas such as virtual environments and new broadcast media.

A central goal of the workshop is to bring together academic researchers in the area of media and presence, content and technology developers, and commercially interested parties so that they can meet, learn from each others experiences, present their research, and exchange ideas.

This workshop is organized by TAPESTRIES (AC055), an ACTS project managed by the Independent Television Commission (ITC). The workshop is organized in association with BT, organizers of the highly successful 1998 1st International Workshop on Presence in Shared Virtual Environments.
