3DMeNow
Lite - E-mail your head to a friend. Thu, 9
Aug 2001
December 5th, 2000: Manchester, England - 3D
software specialists bioVirtual launch 3DmeNow Lite at
www.biovirtual.com. The
free version of this groundbreaking program allows both non-artists and 3d
modelers to create colour 3D models of anyone, directly from photographs or
artwork in minutes and then to send them as talking e-mail!
"This technology allows even an
inexperienced user to create a photo-realistic, talking e-mail with a download
size of less than 150k!" said Paul Sherwood, President of bioVirtual.
"The 3DMeNow™ software makes that potential available to anyone, without
the need for specialist modeling skills or expensive 3D hardware. You can use it
to make serious, as well as humorous, 3d character content of all kinds."
After a once-only download of the bioPlayer [www.biovirtual.com/bioPlayer] users
can view messages simply by clicking on the bio icon attached to the body of the
mail.
3DMeNow is a real-time photogrammetry
application - allowing users of all skill levels to build the highest quality
models using a simple control-point (perimeter-based) methodology.
The application allows the user to load source
images (such as digital pictures of themselves or any subject to be modeled),
and to make animated 3D models from it - for distribution via the web or email.
You can use this software to make a talking model of yourself and put it on your website to tell the world about you and what
you do.
3DmeNow technology is already being used to
develop new solutions in human identification for Police and Security
applications, as well as in computer games and internet/multimedia.
