PRESENCE 2008
The 11th Annual International Workshop on Presence
October 16 - 18
Padova, Italy

Before you submit your work for possible presentation at
PRESENCE 2008 please read the following information. To go directly
to the online submission system, click here.
Categories of Submission
Work can be submitted in the following categories:
- Papers: These are comprehensive
descriptions of research or design work or theoretical investigation within
the scope of the workshop. Papers must relate to existing literature on presence
and make an original contribution to it. Papers must be 4 to 10
pages long, including
references, in the PRESENCE 2008 template format (see below).
Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings, and will be
allocated time for oral presentation, as well as a 30 second oral preview
during the first plenary session.
- Panels: These
are sets of presentations on a single theme or topic within the scope of
the workshop. Submitters are encouraged to be creative regarding both the
topic or theme and the format for panel proposals. Possibilities include
(but are certainly not limited to):
- a series of prepared papers that address related
issues of measurement, theory or application
- a roundtable discussion or debate on a single
provocative topic or claim
- descriptions and demonstrations of different
virtual environments related to each other in form or function
- presentations of related projects being conducted
at the same lab or institution or among collaborative partners at different
institutions
Panel proposals
must be 4 to 10 pages long, including
references, in the PRESENCE 2008 template format (see below). They should
include brief descriptions
of the format and separate components (papers/presentations/demonstrations/etc.)
and a brief explanation of the potential value of the panel session. Unlike
blind peer review submissions of papers, panel submissions must identify
and provide contact information for all proposed participants. Accepted panels
will be included in the conference proceedings, and will be allocated time
for oral presentation, as well as a 30 second oral preview during the first
plenary session.
- Posters: These are visual display presentations.
Poster proposals are limited to 4 pages in the conference
template format (see below). Submitters are strongly encouraged to provide
descriptions or actual miniature
versions of the larger images that would be displayed at the conference.
Accepted poster proposals will be published in the conference proceedings.
Posters will be displayed on a 100 cm high, 70 cm wide board during a dedicated
session of the conference and will be allocated a 30 second oral preview
during the first plenary session.
- Demonstrations/exhibitions:
These are step-by-step audiovisual demonstrations
and/or hands-on experiences of non-commercial work within the scope of the
workshop. Proposals for demonstrations/exhibitions are limited to 4
pages in the PRESENCE 2008 template format. Accepted demonstration/exhibition
proposals will be included in the conference proceedings and will be presented
during a dedicated session of the conference. For the exhibitions of commercial
products, please contact ISPR (at help@ispr.info) for sponsorship terms and
opportunities.
