Simon J. Bronner is distinguished professor of folklore and American Studies at Penn State Harrisburg. He also serves as coordinator of the American Studies Program there and director of the Center for Pennsylvania Culture Studies. He is the author of a dozen books, including Following Tradtion: Folklore in the Discourse of American Culture (Utah State University Press, 1998) and Grasping Things: Folk Material Culture and Mass Society in America (University Press of Kentucky, 1986). A book on folklore and nationalism in America is forthcoming (SR Books).
