The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers and cities; but to know someone who thinks and feels with us, and who, though distant, is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden.

NEXT: Check Point

Notes and References

At the end of this presentation, I would like to share a quotation by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe with you, "The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers and cities; but to know someone who thinks and feels with us, and who, though distant, is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden."

Remember being in the community does not make us a member of the community. By participating in joint action, we can help individuals with developmental disabilities establish reciprocal relationships and social ties with other members in the community. That way, we can increase a sense of belonging.

In conclusion, we hope you enjoyed the information in this module and that you were able to learn more ways to promote community participation with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
