It is important to adapt to challenges throughout the lifespan in order to continue participating in the meaningful activities of our lives.
For example, when we get older, we may become tired more easily. So let's try to remember the three key strategies when planning our days: selection, optimization, and compensation. Based on our energy level, sometimes we might choose to do things less frequently to conserve our energy. Or we can select to do the things we like to do the most at the time when we have highest level of energy. When doing these enjoyable activities, we make necessary adaptations to compensate for any age-related changes, and carefully plan the event so we can have the best experience.
After retirement, we may have more free time so let's remain active in our communities by participating in civic engagement, volunteering, doing a new paid job, or being involved in leisure and recreation activities. Remaining an active member of the community can be beneficial to all areas of our well-being, including physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and occupational well-being, and help us age well.
