The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University (http://disabilities.temple.edu/), Pennsylvania's University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities provides interdisciplinary training, technical assistance, research, and scholarship to enhance the lives of people with developmental and other lifelong disabilities in their communities. The Institute on Disabilities is actively recruiting for the following position:

The Curriculum Developer/Writer in Temple's Institute on Disabilities provides assistance in developing curricula in collaboration with people with disabilities and family members for a statewide program funded by the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs. The Curriculum Developer/Writer will develop, write, refine and revise written products produced for the program to ensure their reader friendliness and accessibility for a wide range of stakeholders. In addition, the incumbent designs, plans, and leads training programs and initiatives aimed at further developing and improving the quality and effectiveness of the program. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in English, creative writing, or related field and at least two years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Personal or professional experience working with people with intellectual disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience writing effective and user-friendly materials, including curricula, grants, newsletters, and articles and assessing their effectiveness.
- Demonstrated experience designing, planning and leading training programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with the ability to interact with diverse workgroups.
- Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with MS Word.
- Ability to travel to off-site locations that may not be accessible by public transportation.
Preferred
- Familiarity with accessibility and other issues affecting those with disabilities.
- Individuals with disabilities or family members of individuals with disabilities
