Graduate Extern Positions for Academic Year 2018-2019

Extern, Institute on Disabilities, College of Education, Pennsylvania's Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT)

100% Apointment (20 hours/week)

  • Disseminate information, makes recommendations to consumers, assist consumers with service applications, tracks data and monitors lending library activity.
  • Assists the program manager in directing consumers in completing applications for the assistive technology library and dissemination/referral services to potential assistive technology users.
  • Troubleshoots lending or demonstration equipment.
  • Maintain current information on relevant AT websites.
  • Participates with the IOD inter-disciplinary weekly seminar and develop a research proposal.
  • All responsibilities are completed in a timely matter and acceptable quality as determined by the supervisor.

Extern, Intellectual Disability Services Administrative Services Management Team (ASMT)

100% Apointment (20 hours/week)

  • Assists program manager with dissemination and referral duties related to life sharing program.
  • Meets with service providers on a regular basis to track program.
  • Assists with clerical duties as needed.
  • Participates with the IOD interdisciplinary weekly seminar and develop a research proposal.
  • All responsibilities are completed in a timely matter and acceptable quality as determined by the supervisor.

Extern, Intellectual Disability Services, Individual Supports Unit

100% Apointment (20 hours/week)

  • Assists project manager with tracking supports coordination of organizations compliance with Pennhurts (lawsuit) regulations and APS compliance and follow-up.
  • Participates with the IOD interdisciplinary weekly seminar.
  • Participates with the IOD interdisciplinary weekly seminar and develop a research proposal.
  • All responsibilities are completed in a timely matter and acceptable quality as determined by the supervisor.

Extern, Intellectual Disability Services, Services and Supports Connection Team

100% Apointment (20 hours/week)

  • Assists supervisor with coordination and follow-up of various activities of the team regarding the official health care delivery system (OHCDS) process such as coordinating with Support Coordination (works with families), Mission First (inspector/construction expert), and Caregivers (payment agent who processes the paperwork to pay vendors).
  • Participates with the IOD interdisciplinary weekly seminar and develop a research proposal.
  • All responsibilities are completed in a timely matter and acceptable quality as determined by the supervisor.
