Dennis Haggerty Dies at Age 85
Dennis E. Haggerty, Esq.
Dennis E. Haggerty, Esq. passed away on July 17, 2013. Mr. Haggerty spent the better portion of his life and career changing the world for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. His work created the "Right to Education Act" and other important legislation in Pennsylvania and nationally. Mr. Haggerty served as consultant under six Presidents, beginning with Lyndon Johnson, and was instrumental in creating human and civil rights bills. Mr. Haggerty, Esq. left the world a better place. He was the father of 3, grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 9.
In 2008, Mr. Haggerty graciously donated his papers to the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University and they are now housed in Temple University's Urban Archives. In addition, he was interviewed as part of the Institute's Visionary Voices project. That interview will be available in the upcoming months.
