There will be a spring 2010 deadline for submissions to the next issue of In Other Words.  Watch for details on the exact date.

Submissions of poetry, fiction, and essays under 2500 words are welcome and should be accompanied by an English translation.  In some cases, a literal translation that renders the content of the original without fully conveying its style and tone may be acceptable.  A translation into English is necessary because it will appear on the printed page alongside the original text in order to make the magazine accessible to all readers.

Translations under 2500 words into English of poetry, fiction, and essays written by another author are also welcome provided there are no copyright issues.  Before submitting a translation, please determine whether it is necessary to obtain permission to publish your piece (information on copyright is often available on the copyright page or in the acknowledgments of a book or anthology).  If you need to write a permission request to send to the appropriate copyright holder, you should state that In Other Words is a not-for-profit student magazine published through the College of Liberal Arts and distributed on Temple’s campus with a print run of fewer than 400 copies.

Please submit your work as a Microsoft Word file by attaching it to an e-mail sent to:
