Health Law and Human Rights

The portfolio of health law and human rights programs at Temple University Beasley School of Law focuses on how laws and legal practices influence health and welfare, on the local, national, and global levels. International initiatives we undertake seek to promote effective public policy, healthy societies, rule of law, human rights, and equitable and efficient use of global resources. Through these efforts, Temple University School of Law has positioned itself as a hub of an international network of scholars and practitioners who generate, articulate, and apply interdisciplinary analyses of complex socio-medical issues. As part of this on-going effort, Professor Scott Burris, Leo Beletsky, and colleagues have pursued both domestic and international initiatives in areas including HIV/AIDS, policing, bottom-up participatory governance, interface between health and human rights including bioethics and issues in human subject research.
