Richard Orodenker received his B.A in English and Writing from Penn State University and his M.A. from the Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars. He was a professor of English and Humanities at Peirce College in Philadelphia from 1976-1992 and taught writing at the University of the Sciences, Penn State University, the Center for Talented Youth, and Community College of Philadelphia before coming to Temple University. A professional writer and editor, Mr. Orodenker has published four books on the literature of sports in addition to numerous essays, short stories, and book reviews. His Dictionary of Literary Biography: Twentieth-Century American Sportswriters (Gale, 1996) won the annual Sporting News–SABR Baseball Research Award. He was a member of the Faculty Herald Editorial Board and chairs the IH Texts Committee.
