Readings & performances featuring TU-WoC COLLECTIVE and AMBLER ARTS COLLECTIVE

In honor of Poetry Month, TU-WoC members and spoken word artists, Debra Powell-Wright and Dr. Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon have convened Temple University women of color staff from Main Campus and Ambler Campus to offer poetry, short stories, songs, and music. Debra’s collection of poetry and short stories by women of color from around the world, “For Women—In Tribute to Nina Simone,” and Kimmika’s “snibbits”written by TU-WoC members, will feature prominently in the performance, along with the works of Lorraine Hansberry, Miriam Makeba, Sonia Sanchez, and Nina Simone—four women whose artistic practice helped to shape the collective identities of women of color across the African Diaspora.
