What is the Affirmative Action Division?

Implementing Temple University's Affirmative Action Program is a cooperative endeavor that extends to every school, college, office, and organization at Temple. The Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) serves as the focal point of Temple's institution-wide efforts for equal opportunity, equal access and affirmative action, providing direction through information and assistance.

Temple's Affirmative Action Program is written, updated, and published by the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership. For employee orientation and supervisory training, and for student research projects, the Division staff provide the reference materials and examples from University practices that explain Temple's commitment to equal opportunity and affirmative action.  The department maintains information on implementing regulations and guidance for federal, state, and municipal laws prohibiting discrimination and requiring affirmative action.

Anyone in the Temple community who has a question about affirmative action is encouraged to contact Rhonda Brown, Associate Vice President, IDEAL.  Consulting IDEAL at the outset helps assure equal opportunity in the procedures for recruitment, advertising, hiring, employee testing, promotion, and helps prevent discrimination in individual decisions and actions.
