The mission of the William Maul Measey Institute for Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety (ICS) includes an emphasis on research. It is our goal to foster quality research in medical and surgical education including the development of innovative technologies for teaching clinical skills.

 

The Temple University Surgical Skills Program has evaluated the use of innovative tools for surgical education. Several publications have focused on the development of a surgical skills lab. In addition, research on sleep deprivation and its effect on learning laparoscopic skills has been studied.

 

The Temple University OB/Gyn program conducted a study with third year medical students to determine the correlation of virtual reality and box trainer tasks in the assessment of laparoscopic surgical skills.
