During their first year, residents practice basic tasks designed to help them develop the depth perception and manual dexterity necessary for the performance of laparoscopic surgical procedures. Basic Laparoscopic Skills (PDF, 38 KB)
Surgical interns demonstrate the ability to perform emergency surgical techniques such as crichothyroidotomy, tube thoracostomy, and thoracotomy in an animate laboratory setting. Trauma Skills (PDF, 23KB)
By means of a virtual reality endoscopy simulator, residents are introduced to procedures used in upper and lower GI endoscopy as well as bronchoscopy.
