A screening and discussion with filmmaker

Pankaj Kumar

About the film:

The documentary is a journey into the sweet science of boxing being practiced by two Indian women. The film unfolds with them as they wrestle with their day-to-day existence of being boxers and the conflicts that surround them. While one of the boxers is comprehending her sexuality, the other struggles with the limitations of her body and the need to prove that she too can box like her brother. Using cinema verité style and shot over a period of two and half years, the film articulates the boxers' concerns and shares experiences and ideas about their future. It premiered at the Goteborg Film Festival in Sweden in January 2008 and has screened in Stuttgart and Chile.
