Study Groups

2009-10 Study Groups

Applications Due: Sept. 21, 2009

Consultation is available for shaping group funding proposals. Contact Peter Logan.

Study Groups enhance intellectual life in the humanities at Temple by by promoting conversations across disciplinary boundaries.

We encourage faculty and students from different departments to explore their mutual interest in specific new areas of intellectual inquiry.

Past Study Groups have examined a wide array of topics, including gender and sexuality, disability, performative texts, the Civil War, aestheticism, area studies and period studies.

CHAT supplies Study Groups with a physical space for meeting and a $400 budget, which may be used for books, copying, or bringing in visiting speakers. CHAT is also able to assist in arranging and promoting Group events.

Any two full-time faculty members from different departments may propose a Study Group. Each group should have a minimum of four members. Membership is open to all, including students and faculty outside of Temple. It is expected that these groups will meet monthly (or more often) throughout the year.

Applications are accepted in early Fall for the academic year. Please see the complete guidelines for details.
