Study Groups
The Center for the Study of Humanities at Temple sponsors a series of Study Groups to enhance the intellectual life of the college. As always, CHAT is especially committed to promoting conversations across disciplinary boundaries. If you are interested in participating in one of the continuing groups, please contact the convener listed below.
Current Study Groups
New Study Groups
CHAT invites full-time members of the faculty to submit applications to its 2007-08 Study Group Program. We suggest an initial group of 3-6 participants to submit an application. Membership in a Study Group is not restricted to CLA faculty. At least two disciplines must be represented in the application.
Once an application is accepted, CHAT will advertise the topic and/or book selections throughout the College so that additional faculty can join the groups. CHAT will consider a Study group to be viable with a minimum total number of five participants. Study groups should consist of no more than nine participants.
For each Study Group CHAT will purchase books (if desired) and provide an on-campus site for discussions. In some cases CHAT may be able to support an invitation to an author to come to campus for a talk or a forum with group members in a public setting.
The deadline for applying for a 2007-08 Study Group grant is Monday, October 8. Please submit applications electronically to Peter Logan at peter.logan@temple.edu.
